Hidden Steps: Behind the Veil
"If you've ever been curious about what happens just beyond what our five simple human senses can perceive, then you and I are in the same boat," explained Nick Gerasimou when asked about his motivation for writing Hidden Steps: Behind the Veil.
How does the dynamic between God's Angelic messengers and the people they are charged to protect and interact with occur when boots hit the ground? "There are a number of examples in the Bible that give a small glimpse into that relationship, but they are fleeting and many times left open to interpretation and imagination. Well, I took those ideas and ran with them," said Gerasimou, "I wanted to see what the day-to-day literal, logistical aspects looked like. It's always fascinated me."
Hidden Steps: Behind the Veil follows a young, 20-something man named Conner through one traumatic and transformative year of his life. Living the way a stereotypical college student does, Conner finds himself thrust into a series of unexpected and at times, dangerous situations which he and his loved ones seem to miraculously survive. We watch each day unfold and see the steps Conner takes to navigate them from his perspective. Then directly following the reader gets a retelling of the day from the angelic point of view. We get to see the strategy and warfare that rages just beyond what we can see as the Angelic protectors God sent to guide Conner battle with the fallen demons who want nothing more than to destroy him.
Each chapter is a stepping stone in Conner's journey of faith which culminates with him ultimately making a painful and magnificent decision that has long-reaching reverberations for The Lord's cause here on Earth. We see how one step taken in faith can lead to an entire movement surging forward for Jesus Christ.
There are times when following Jesus and living by His will can be difficult. If I'm being honest there are times when it's an all-out fight, where God is figuratively dragging me by my dead-weight arm as I dig my heels into the gravel because I don't want to go where He is trying to lead me.
In Get up and Walk: A Stroll With Jesus I take the reader on a topical journey through my life. In a series of bite-sized essays I expound on Biblical themes that I feel we are all faced with, and which I feel we all struggle with to some degree (some more than others - I'm pointing to myself).
I use situations I've gone through and nagging questions I've wrestled with over the years to teach poignant lessons about God, His will for us, and how we can see Him working in our lives.
I pray that this book, sheds some new light on a topic the reader has been struggling with, gives them a new perspective on their relationship with Jesus, or just simply puts a smile on their face for a moment.
